Homeowners insurance provides protection against physical damage to your home and/or contents caused by a covered peril listed in the policy. The policy includes liability which provides coverage for damage to property of others or bodily injury to others where your negligence is the cause.
Your Dwelling: this covers the structure of your home against damage for the perils listed.
Your Other Structures: this covers things like other buildings, fences, satellite dishes etc. against damage for the perils listed on the insured premises.
Your Personal Belongings: this covers your owned property that is not part of the dwelling or other structures against damage for the perils listed. Automobiles are typically excluded.
Loss of Use: when your dwelling becomes uninhabitable from a covered peril, this covers the cost to rent other accommodations while your dwelling is being repaired.
Personal Liability: this coverage will pay up to the limit of liability for the damages for which the policy holder is legally liable. Policy holder must be negligent for this coverage to pay.
Medical Payments to Others: this will pay necessary medical expenses up to the limit that are incurred from an accident causing bodily injury on your premises. The policy holder does not have to be negligent for this coverage to pay.
